There is a time and a place to voice our opinions, and yes, we should. It is our right. But when our one opinion can influence students in profound ways, it is not appropriate. Our job is to educate; to help students form their own views on topics without being swayed back and forth by what they hear from the teacher's personal beliefs. In a classroom setting we must withhold, unless a student asks you privately after class what you believe. In Barbara's case, she is highly looked upon as a convocation speaker, but made herself look very immature in the things she said against our President. That was not the place, and adding that to her speech had no positive affect in getting her point across. Lets all just learn to be respectful in a public, educational setting.
