i believe that in any subject you as a teach are with out a doubt suppose to teach the truth, weather it's good or bad. i believe depending on the grade level you will have to modifie what is said and how you say it, but i believe every student has the right to be taught the truth, no if, ands, or buts, about it

I agree, the truth should be taught. It's just HOW the truth is taught and WHEN it is taught that really matters. Theses are the major questions and as long as they are answered correctly, the truth can be taught.

I also agree that the truth should always be taught. I have never been an advocate of lying to children or keeping the total truth (which is also lying) in order to protect and shelter them. A child's trust in his or her teacher will be completely violated as soon as he/she discovers the truth. Yes, depending on the age the way that less pleasant things are taught must be modified, but never should it be modified by deceit.
