 Achievement Gap can be reduced, Some Say

:D Teachers can narrow the racial achievement gap by using different strategies to teach minority children, several people told a a task force of educators and state officials (Greensboro, NC). Universitiies need to prepare teachers to teach at-risk children, said Renee Miles of Raleigh. "Teach Teachers to use a variety of teaching strategies. Knowing how to work with students who don't perform well makes it easier for teachers to help good students. State Superintendent Mike Ward appointed the commission in 2000 to advise the N.C. Department of Public Instruction on ways to close the gaps that exist in student achievement between racial groups. Obviously, those in attendance must have fallen asleep, dreamed about a solution; They, in my opinion, have not put forth the effort to make this information a reality. Then again, it might just be me ............Help!!
