For those of you who haven't finished it yet, I don't want to give anything away, but when I first began reading The Poisonwood Bible, I thought I knew exactly in which direction Kingsolver was taking me. I soon learned that I was completley wrong. Even though I found myself disagreeing with some parts of the book, I still couldn't put it down. Her writing was so vivid and free, I really did enjoy reading this book. Did anyone else have the same experience?

I had a hard time putting it down too. I really wanted to find out what happened to that family. There were some very deep political and religious issues in the book, but I found myself captivated too. A nice refresher after reading Ishmael.

I enjoyed this one the most out of our novels. I still find it hard to believe that "mom" was the way she was. I also don't want to give anything away. I really felt like I was there seeing it take place and being very greatful that I really wasn't there. Thanks for sharing.

I am still reading the Poisonwood Bible, and I really appreciate you all not giving anything away. i hate it when people ruin a book or movie for me by spilling the ending.
Like you all, I am captivated by the story and love the writer's style. I am a little over halfway and I can't wait till the next chapter. Last night I read one of the saddest parts and cried like a baby. I have been fully drawn into this book and that is a complete reversal for me from Ishmael.
I will be looking for other books by this author when I have time for "free reading."---Which will be after we graduate! Ha!

I like the rest can not put it down. This is one to share with the girls for some summer reading and I am not finished with it yet.

I am like you Penny, I got so into the book that it was very emotional for me. Kingsolver really drew you in and made you feel as if you right there in Africa going through each of their trials and tribulations. But like some of you, I wanted the mom to act differently and to go against her "abusive" husband.
