I really enjoyed tonight's discussion about the book. It really made me understand Quinn's point in writing this book and the message that he was trying to get across to humans. I think I understand where this ties into education but I just wanted to make sure. We (as teachers) need to think and respond to each child differently. What may work for one, may not work for another. This comes back to the multiple visions and seeing all kids as different (I think). Am I on the right track with how this ties into education?

I think you are on the right track Shannon, but I will add one more thing to that. Not only should we see the children as different, we need to teach them to see each other as coming from different perspectives and to embrace that in each other. We need to teach diversity and that if some disagrees with you, it is ok.

Shelly,
I understand that we must compete, but we must not wage war. Therefore, we must promote diversity and recognize human differences. Quinn says that we must think about our problems in a different way and we must look around and see what we can do. Teachers can make a difference. We must look at more than one perspective even in our classrooms involving the decisions we make everyday.
