I worked for the Displaced Homemakers Programs at two different community colleges for six years. I met women who chose to attend school and get training. The programs helped them pay for child care, travel expenses, and any items they needed for their classes. These programs give women with children an opportunity to get needed skills to obtain a job with decent wages. I know many of the women got jobs that paid more than what I made. Some became electricians, computer technicians, and nursing assistants. It was wonderful to empower women and their children. These programs are still in operation. I think they are a wonderful use of my tax payer dollars. Do you feel that this a good use of your tax payer dollars? Why?
