I know we were told we wouldn't understand this article, but I feel really stupid. The only thing in the article I actually was able to slightly understand was the issue of truth. Can anyone help a stressed out teacher and clarify this? or do you feel the same way?

Lisa, I agree with you. The Rorty piece was alot to absorb. Anyway, from my very simple perspective, I think the Pragmatist view of truth is this:
Truth is a continuing revelation. On page 23 Dr. Turner flagged a key passage that mentions improved belief. The Pragmatists are open to new evidence and they desire to broaden the horizon of their perspective.
I think I'd appreciate a power point version of Objectivity, relativism, and truth - you know - headlines and bullets.
I look forward to our discussion tomorrow night.
