With the demand for new teachers with tunover, retirement, "burnout", etc. each year, what are the answers? Does your system recruit outside the state (or even the country, as ours does)? We even send county office pesonel to England to recruit. (By the way, we had one teacher from England recently who would not stand and recite the Pledge during assemblies). And what about lateral enty? Is this a good idea? Does it work in your schools? Is this fair to those who spend 4 (or more) years of college to get certified with a good foundation of pedagogy skills?
