As we talked about the Poisonwood Bible in class I couldn't help but remember what we read on the first night of class about the Body Rituals of the Nacirema.
To me Nathan Price saw Africa as Acirfa. He was so far removed that he didn't try to get to know or understand the people there.
I also thought of this when we talked about Female Gen. Mut. Of course I can not even imagine such a thing, and it seems more than cruel to me. But then I remembered the account of our gynecological visits in the Nacirema article.
I guess it is all in your perspective.
What are your thoughts on this?

Everything must be viewed from the proper perspective, however from the articles that I have read about this subject the women do suffer. I don't can what language you speak but pain is an universal language. Sometimes we will never be able to understand because the subject is so grounded in the culture that it will never be open for our understanding. We cannot relate to it on any realm.
