As we discussed the stories that we enact, I began thinking about my own story, and those of my family. I know that we all have examples, and I would love to hear them.

I will quickly share a small story that went involved my father's death. My dad died when I was 17, my sister was 14. As you can imagine this affected us in drastic and different ways. I turned into my family and made them the center of my decisions. I decided not to go away to college, and to live at home while attending App. My sister - who I feel needed guidance at this time- turned to her friends. That led to partying and disconnections with our family. The way we interpreted the same event has shaped the people we have grown up to be.

So, what is the story that you are enacting?

Jamie,

Thanks for sharing your story (one of them!!) I can see the caregiver in you so strongly. And your students benefit from it!

I too would love to hear other stories. As for me...I think I've talked enough!!!!

Jamie,
Due to our background, we all have such exciting stories to tell.
Growing up as an only child, I have always fought the "beast inside of me" against selfishness and egocentrism. Therefore, I made the decision that my in my own family, I would never have an only child. Due to my past history, I made choices about my family.

Julie,
I think of you often concerning my own family. My husband is an only child, and he thinks it is the best thing ever. I want more children, but it is a closed subject to him (for now). It makes me want to explore his story more.
