Without a doubt. I know that this will cause a "trickle down" effect causing prices to increase, etc., but at the same time, I know that most businesses are paying their higher leveled personnel way too much in most cases. The solution should be to make more of an "evening out" of salaries. (lowest wage can not be any less than x% of the highest wage)

I dont know if it would help. We see everyday that companies are sending jobs over seas where they can hire workers at a lower cost. If the minimum wage was increased, this could send more job overseas as well. In an effort to help, it may just hurt.

Wouldn't a trickling effect only make it more difficult for those paid minimum wages. We all know an increase in minimum wages only leads to a price increase on common items (many which are a necessity), thus really making it even more difficult for the poor. The middle class really have no trouble coming up with another dollar for diapers, but those paid at minimum wage may really struggle. Thus leading to a true "nickel and dimed" society....... Just a thought.

Minimum Wage increases will hurt small businesses the most.

They will hire fewer employees and will definitely not offer health care. I am not sure if increasing wages is such a good idea.

Whether or not the minimum wage has a negative impact on the economy depends on whose economists you ask I suppose. Check out this site for arguments for. http://www.epi.org/content.cfm/bp178. Here's the other side. http://www.house.gov/jec/cost-gov/regs/minimum/case.htm. Notice the authors of this. The minimum wage is certainly a political issue.

After hearing the poverty thresh holds last night and seeing the math for a person working a minimum wage job and their gross income I was shocked and would advocate for another increase in the minimum wage. Maybe tax breaks for smaller businesses to keep them in business.
