In October I attended a Senior Alumni Conference and talked to teachers of all levels. They were all Appalachian graduates and had information to share about their first year teaching, classroom management, and how to maintain a professional relationship with your students. I was able to ask specific questions about grad school, teaching philosophies, and classroom activities. I am grateful to have had the opportunity to attend this conference and would encourage all education majors to attend. It is always beneficial to learn from individuals who have actually been in the classroom and tried different methods of teaching.
